DLO about trout, kiwi burrows and crayfish

Kia ora everyone,

Today we had to read an article, "Uncle Don knows heaps of wacky stuff" activity books, in page 12-16. There are different animals that we had to research about. I talked about Trout, Kiwi burrows and crayfish. I used canva to make this poster. 

These information was interesting, I didn't know these facts until I researched about it.

Wetlands

Hey everyone,

Yesterday and today we had to read this article called "Uncle Don knows heaps of wacky stuff" activity books. The topic that I wanted to research was about wetlands. 

I researched some information about wetlands and made a bulletpoints for every facts I found. I used the website called Vengage to make this, I wasn't fully done since I have to add more information. But this is what I've done so far:

Flora and Fauna research

Hello,

Last week, we've been focusing about Flora and Fauna. We did a note taking, we found out our NZ native species quiz and a book to read from page 4-7. In this book there are different facts, and we get to choose which topic we want to research. For mine I am researching about Eels in New Zealand, and about the Octopi(octopus) changing colours. I just found it interesting that's why I picked these.

Origami

Kia Ora everyone, 

I've been doing lockdown activities and one of them is to make origami and to post the instructions. 

I got the instructions from this site: Link 

1. Get a square sized paper. 
2. Fold the right edge of the paper over to the left.
3.  Unfold the previous step. Fold the bottom edge of the paper up to the top edge.
4.  Unfold the previous step. Fold the bottom edge of the paper up to the central crease. 
5. Flip the paper over to the other side, from left to right.
6.  Fold the bottom right corner diagonally up to the left, aligning it with the vertical crease. 
7. Fold the bottom left corner diagonally up to the right, aligning it with the vertical crease. 
8. Flip the paper over to the other side, from left to right. 
9. Fold the left and right edges to meet in the middle. 
10. Fold the top left and right corners diagonally inwards.
11. Bring the top point down to the bottom point and start to flatten it down.
12. Insert the top point inside the lower pocket. 
13. Flatten the top section of the heart. 
14. Fold the top left and right corners diagonally inwards. 
15. Fold the two top points of the heart down a little. 
16. Flip the paper over to see your completed origami heart.

Verb and Adverb

Kia Ora everyone,

For today's blog, I will be talking about verb and adverb. During Wanaga, we've been focusing on our writing and grammars which includes the part of speech. A verb is an action words (ex: jumping, eating, playing, throwing), verb words usually ends with 'ing'. An adverb is a descriptive word for verb, it is more detailed and tells you about how the action is present (ex: slowly, rushly, gently, quietly, shockingly), adverb usually ends with 'ly'.

Today in Wananga, we had to read and learn a little information about places in New Zealand and had to do this activity, we also have to include an information of this place.

Tasman Sea - A sea between Australia & NZ 

North Island - One of the two main islands on NZ

Christchurch - The second largest city in NZ 

Auckland - The second name of Auckland is ‘city of sails’ 

Pacific Ocean - Ferdinand Magellan named the Pacific Ocean

South Pacific Ocean - It’s average depth is 4,280m (14,040ft)

South Island - South Island is called ‘Te Waipounamu’ in Maori
