Philippine Independence Day

Welcome back to my blog. Today I am going to talk about Philippine independence day!

Independence day for Filipino people is time for families and take a day off from works and schol to enjoy quality time together! 

We have been celebrating Philippine Independence day for 121 years. I'm going to give some facts about Philippines.

1. The Philippines invented the Jeepney.

2. The first flag in the Philippines was called "KKK" or some different symbols, just like this:

3. The 8 rays in the Philippines flag in the sun represents: Manila, Cavite, Pampanga, Morong, Laguna, Batangas and Nueva Ecija that involves in the 1896 Philippine revolution against Spain. "KKK" means "Kataas-taasang, Kagalang-galangang, Katipunan ng mga anak ng Bayan" (Supreme and Venerable Association of the children of the nation).

4. The Philippines celebrated the longest Christmas. They started celebrating at the month of September until January. They started decorating in September such as parol (Giant Lanterns). Parol is a shape like a star. It is usually made out of bamboo and papers. Also Filipino attends to Simbang Gabi (Night Mass). They attended when is early morning or midnight mass for 9 days straight leading for Christmas eve.

5. Philippines has 180 languages. Most of the filipino language in the Philippines are: Bikol, Cebuano, Hilagaynon, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Tagalog and Waray. But the two official language in Philippines is Tagalog and English. 

6. The elements of the filipino flags are Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. The blue at the top means: Peace, truth, justice. The red at the bottom is: Patriotism, valor. The sun in the side means: Unity, freedom, people's democracy's, sovereignty.

 The horizontal is when the blue colour is at the top, it means peace:

5. The three stars in the sides of the Philippines flag stands for: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

6. The mostly food that Filipino people is rice. Rice is very popular in the Philippines, infact, all people eats rice in the Philippines.

7. A Filipino made the karaoke machine. If you don't know, Filipino loves singing, a lot. When there is a occasion such as birthdays, achievement awards, graduations, Christmas and New year, they will never forget about karaoke machine.

8. The traditional dance in the Philippines was supposed to be Tinikling. Tinikling is a dance where there are 2 people tapping the bamboo pole's while kneeling down, and one girl and one boy will dance in the middle of the bamboo. But they changed it to Carinosa. It involves a man and a women dancing together. The word Carinosa is from Spanish. They changed the traditional dance into Carinosa because when other people from other country goes to Philippines to dance Tinikling, they won't be able to bring the bamboo from their country to Philippines.

9. Filipino people loves street foods. After school or work, they will always find a street foods while they are walking. One of the most popular Filipino street foods is "Balut". Some people thinks that balut looks weird, but trust me, it's so delicious. Another one of Filipino street food is called "Kwek Kwek".

10. The most popular fast food restaurant in the Philippines is Jolibee and Mang Inasal. Jolibee is like Mc Donald, but they have different taste. Jolibee is a Filipino style of Mc Donald. Mang Inasal is a barbecue fast food restaurant.
