Mars
Kia ora everyone,
Welcome back to my blog. Today, I am going to share about what we did during Science.
Last term the topic we were focusing was about Mars. Now, we will be continuing what we did last term. Today we have to read an article about Mars and there will be some questions that we have to answer.
1. When can a mission to Mars (or from Mars) happen? Why?
Martians has to go and explore the Mars every 26 months.
2. What are two geological features of Mars?
Mars is also known/called as a "Red Planet, It's because the colour of the planet (It's caused by the large amount of Iron Oxide). The other features includes polar Ice caps, Olympus Mons (It's the largest volcano in the Solar System) and Valley Marineris (It's one of the largest canyons in the solar system).
3. What is one possible solution from the story about oxygen on Mars?
There is a machine called MOXIE which is an electricity and it splits the carbon dioxide into carbon minoxide (CO) and oxygen (O). NASA send this machine in Mars in 2020.
4. If it doesn't rain on Mars, where does the water come from?
- There are no rivers or lakes in Mars, but they found a waters as a ice in the polar ice caps, but It's covered in a thick layer of a frozen carbon dioxide.
5. How will people get food on Mars? What is a possible solution?
if they bought their own foods to Mars it would at least last for 26 months until the next supplies of rockets arrives. Each of their supplies should weigh around 5 tonnes. But you could also grow foods in Mars but it would be hard, you'll have to save foods which means you'll eat a bit of foods during breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Reading Novel Study
Good morning/Good afternoon everyone,
For today's blog, I'm going to tell you about what we have been doing during Hurumanu 2.
Hurumanu 2 is our reading time, during reading time, we have a group that reads a different book that are given to us. The book that I was reading is called "Rainfall" by Ella West. I've been reading this for the past few weeks or months.
It took me a long time before I could even finish the book, there are 25 chapters and I'm pretty sure there is 218 pages including the authors note. I had to bring the book in my house, and I read it when I get to have free time, or usually I read it before I go to sleep.
If we finish reading the book, we have some task to do that are related to the book that we were reading. Some of the tasks is to answer some questions about the book, or to do creative things such as drawing. We have to choose at least 3 tasks to do. I managed to finish reading the book. I just finished it last 3 weeks ago, and then I get to finish the tasks last week.
I'm now going to summarise about what happened in the book: There is a girl name Annie, she is 15, one morning she was riding a bike to head down to her school for her basketball match, but there is a Detective who said not to get out of the house because it's dangerous. Someone shoot the window in the police station and they found out that the person who did that live in their neighbourhood.
There are more interesting things that happened in the story as you continue reading it.
Here's the link of the tasks I've finished: Link
I liked how the author used unique words rather than putting a simple word. I learnt words that I don't really know and I haven't heard some of them, I searched up those words that I don't know and knew the meaning of it.
Thanks for taking your time reading my blog. I hope you learn something new, and that's all for today, bye.
