Verb and Adverb

Kia Ora everyone,

For today's blog, I will be talking about verb and adverb. During Wanaga, we've been focusing on our writing and grammars which includes the part of speech. A verb is an action words (ex: jumping, eating, playing, throwing), verb words usually ends with 'ing'. An adverb is a descriptive word for verb, it is more detailed and tells you about how the action is present (ex: slowly, rushly, gently, quietly, shockingly), adverb usually ends with 'ly'. 

There were activities that we had to do. Take a look at my work:

Base verbs: Fill in the gaps

  1. We play with our toys. 

  2. I cry when I’m sad. 

  3. At night, I sleep in bed. 

  4. You can talk on the phone. 

  5. I can read lots of books. 

  6. You can build a tower with bricks. 

  7. I smile when I am happy. 

  8. We watch films on the tv. 

  9. I eat my lunch at school. 


  1. Identifying adverbs: Highlight the adverbs

  1. He smiled cautiously

  2. She frowned angrily

  3. He walked to school quickly

  4. Next she looked for her coat. 

  5. It would be his turn soon

       2. Use your own adverb to complete these sentences. 

  1. She ran oddly down the road. 

  2. It will be my birthday tomorrow

  3. He wandered nearly home. 

  4. Urgently, she had to wrap her brother’s present. 

  5. Her dad was coming to pick her up eventually
