Kia Ora,
For today, it is going to be an another experiment that we're doing in science, which is making a ginger beer.
Aim: I want to find out how to (brew) make ginger beer.
Research: We had to find a YouTube video on how to make alcohol, making a ginger beer and a fermentation.
Alcohol from common table sugar
Method:
Equipment:
- Plastic cup
- Marker
- Powder ginger
- Water
- Sugar
- Spoon
- Lemon Juice
- Yeast
Instructions:
- Get your equipment.
- Take a plastic cup, write your name on it.
- Pour half a teaspoon of a powder ginger inside the cup.
- Add half a cup of water into the cup.
- Put one tablespoon of sugar inside the cup.
- Mix your ingredients inside the cup with a spoon.
- Add 5 drops of Lemon Juice into the cup.
- Taste it and adjust the flavour.
- Add one quarter of teaspoon of yeast.
- Let it brew for one week.
Results:
I only tasted it once but not much since I didn't really like it. We waited for a couple of days and we then finally tried it. It taste sweet but with no flavour at all but the smell of it was strong and it didn't seems like it taste good.
Discussion:
What is a Fermentation?
A fermentation is when a yeast eats glucose (sugar), and it breathes out CO2 (Carbon dioxide - gas), then it excretes alcohol. You'll know when the gas has come off, you'll start seeing bubbles. This process is called Respiration.
Thank you for reading my blog, I hope you learn something new and goodbye:))
